I love to talk about my knitting, but don't have nearly enough friends who knit. I am on Ravelry, of course, but it isn't enough.
My brilliant idea is that every time I cast on a new project, I will post about it, and periodically post to track my progress.
Since I'm not starting a new project tonight, I will talk about some WIPs I have on the needles. For those of you who don't know, a WIP is a Work In Progress.
#1. Deep Creek Scarf
This is a gorgeous cabled-leaf scarf. The original pattern called for (I think) worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, or somewhere thereabouts. I modified the pattern slightly for width, and am using chunky yarn and size 11 needles. The yarn is absolutely scrumptious- Cascade Baby Alpaca Paints. It's a handpainted yarn that is smoooooooth like butta and beautiful variegated greens. Perfect for a leaf pattern, and warm enough for the coldest day.
Unfortunately, the pattern is really causing me trouble. It's the first pattern I've ever done from a chart (as opposed to written instructions) and I'm just no good at it. I have a hard time reading back and forth, and the pattern is too difficult to try to just read what to do from what I've already done. Bleh. However, it is a wonderful project and a good challenge for me, but since I am in school I just don't have a lot of time or patience to work on it. Maybe next term I won't feel so pathetic.
#2. Mix and Match Rib Sock
This is my first toe-up (as opposed to cuff-down) sock. I am enjoying it immensely, but I think it's going to be too small. I will probably just frog it and start over. The yarn is fun though, it's Berrocco Sox in the "Jamie" colorway- yellow, green, pale blue, and brown, and knits up looking kind of fair isle- esque.
#3. Knit valentine
I started this as the Feb challenge for a knitting group I belong to, but since today is V-Day and I haven't finished, I will probably frog this and re-use the yarn for something else.
#4. Cowl/ moebius
I made myself a beanie last week and decided I needed a scarf to match. I have been wanting to try a moebius, so I am experimenting. I have no idea if I cast it on properly, so we shall see! This is a gray acrylic mystery yarn. Basic garter pattern.
Ok, I should really be writing a paper for class now, so that's it for tonight! Happy Valentine's Day!
